My tutoring approach
If you are interested in a tutor with over 20 years experience in teaching Science at GCSE, or Biology at A Level in schools, and over 12 years experience in one-to-one tutoring, I would be really pleased to here from you. Whether you want to achieve the highest grades at A level or just want to get that elusive C at GCSE.
Students often come to tutoring lacking in confidence or worried about what will be expected of them. You will come to enjoy our sessions! The most important thing is to put you at your ease as soon as possible, then to find out what it is that YOU want. To help you achieve this I employ all kinds of strategies to help you learn and remember. You'll be amazed at how many ways there are to learn. And you'll find that these will be useful to you right across the curriculum. You will be able to walk into your exam room confident that you can perform to the best of your ability. And, possibly, you will be inspired to love the subject too.
Tutoring experience: 25+ years
After graduating from Birmingham University with a degree in Biological Science I worked as a microbiologist in the Dairy industry, and then in the Pharmaceutical Industry, for several years. I returned to university to qualify as a teacher and have taught in British and International schools for 20 years.
The majority of my teaching experience is in Science. I have taught Physics and Chemistry up to and including GCSE and A level Biology. I was teacher in charge of the Biology department for some years. I have worked as an A level examiner.
For many years I tutored students in my home. Some as young as 12/13 wanting to prepare for Key Stage 3 science exams, others studying for GCSE Science or A Level Biology. Not one single student failed to gain the grade they wanted and some did even better! For 2 years I ran a week-long Easter GCSE revision course where students could come and revise for all their subjects, with the provision of resources and a science revision tutorial every day. These courses were very popular and successful.
I moved to Sweden five years ago and have learned Swedish and have qualified to teach English as a foreign language. Learning something as challenging as Swedish has really informed my own teaching, I have been teaching English as a mother-tongue to children ranging from 7-14, and teaching adults Business English in local international businesses.
My real joy and talent is in inspiring young people to enjoy and become successful in the subjects they are studying and I look forward to the opportunity of tutoring you.

I can't praise Cherry-Anne enough for all the help she has given to my son over the past nine months. He was struggling to cope with his Biology A S at the beginning of the academic year but he's now come on in leaps and bounds. We shall continue with Cherry-Anne for the next academic year to ensure he gets the best results possible for him. It's also a really convenient way to tutor your child. Thank you so much Bigfoot and Cherry-Anne.
Mrs O is truly amazing. She always goes above and beyond to provide for her students. She would make notes which we will go through in lesson for me for every single topic. She understands that I have some attention issues and therefore need to constantly be doing something and can easily get lost by just listening, so she makes sure I write my notes as well to keep me focus. She also didn't hesitate to get the textbook I was using so she can understand my specification better. She is very interesting as well and lessons are never boring. Mrs O is also a very caring person, she provides a holistic teaching that does not only cover Biology but covers study skills and you'll also be able to learn some life lessons here and there from her. I honestly don't know why on that particular day, 101 lessons ago, I chose to contact Mrs O out of all the teachers on Bigfoot, but I believe that it was one of the best decisions I've made in my life.
My son has had 30 hours of tutoring with Cherry-Anne leading up to his resits he needed to do in January. He has gone from a D to a B. Cannot recommend Cherry enough. She has built up an incredible rapport with him and given him confidence in himself to succeed. I am now looking forward to getting his final results in August!!
Cherry-Anne is a kind and supportive tutor who will ensure you have an excellent understanding of biology.
Cherry-Anne is one of the most supportive teachers I've ever come across, she encourages students that they can do it by showing them how to. You can clearly see her work doesn't stop away from the classroom as her lessons are always extremely well prepared and tailored to exactly what you need to know for your specific syllabus. She is always happy to answer any questions and will go over anything you do not understand however many times you need to. It is an absolute pleasure to be taught by Cherry-Anne I look forward to every lesson! Do not know what I would do without her.
Cherry-Anne is a well prepared tutor, who makes doing difficult A-levels interesting and enjoyable. Her use of varying resources, such as textbook work, diagrams and a 'split screen' computer system, encompasses all learning techniques and therefore ensures the student gets the most they can out of each lesson. I would highly recommend choosing Cherry-Anne as your online tutor.
I am a junior doctor currently working in Manchester. Mrs. Osborne taught me Biology when I was doing my A levels. I always looked forward to her lessons as she made the subject interesting and relevant. Her lessons were always well planned and well structured. She often used diagrams and real life examples to explain concepts thereby making them easier to understand.
Mrs. Osborne helped me get As in my exams and achieve my goal of becoming a doctor. She is a wonderful, experienced teacher and I feel lucky to have been taught by her.
Cherry-Anne tutored me for my A level biology exam. She was friendly, knowledgeable and patient and helped me achieve top marks and a grade A. She breaks topics into bite size, manageable chunks and is able to break down and simplify complex concepts. I would have no doubt in recommending Cherry-Anne as a tutor.
I have found Cherry-Anne to be utterly lovely, she is kind and funny, and possessing the ability to teach to a high standard. In four lessons we have covered two modules to a standard where I have grown remarkably confident and I am enjoying my learning. I would recommend her to anyone, she's just GREAT.....
