My tutoring approach
At the start of the tutoring process, I ascertain where the student is struggling, what aspects they find most difficult and assess how they learn. This then allows me to tailor the tutoring sessions to each individual. I work hard to make the topics we cover enjoyable and memorable by using analogies to the students everyday life, and have found this works very well. I am a naturally friendly person and like to make a more relaxed atmosphere for the tutoring session so that the students feel comfortable asking and answering questions whenever they need to.
Tutoring experience: 3+ years
I have been tutoring since April 2011 and have had brilliant success in helping many students achieve higher than their predicted grades. I am currently in my final year of my PhD in molecular biology, where I also teach undergraduate students topics related to their course as well as exam techniques and study skills (which they find incredibly useful!)
I used to work in a school during the summer holidays helping teachers prepare for lessons and helping out in the office, so I am very aware of the curriculum and keep up to date with any changes that occur.

Kim has made GCSE Maths far more interesting for my daughter who is about to take this next month. She now complains less about doing the work and her marks have improved since she started lessons with Kim. It certainly has taken the pressure off us as this is my daughter's weakest subject. Kim has the right personality and approach with students and motivates them. The parental feedback after lessons is appreciated. We are pleased we found Kim!
Kimberley is a supportive, conscientious and caring tutor and is giving my son the exact amount of support and confidence that he needs to get through his impending GCSE's. She is flexible to his needs and identifies the areas in which he benefits from additional help and carried this off in a less formal environment than school has to offer. If I am working late I completely trust Kimberley in my home with my son and although he wouldn't openly admit it, I think he almost enjoys his tutoring sessions!
Kimberley is a great tutor and very nice person. Kimberley is organised, creative and helpful. Kim, thank you so much for your help!
Kimberley was very accommodating, we had booked some last minute revision session prior to the exams and she went out of her way to book some time in the diary. Kimberley was tutoring my niece in A level biology. My niece felt that Kimberley knew the subject matter well and broke down the topics in a way that made them easy to understand, she had a very friendly approachable style. Part of the reason for engaging Kimberley was to help build confidence and she definitely helped in that regard. I would not hesitate to recommend Kimberley to anyone considering her.
I cannot praise Kimberley highly enough! She is everything one looks for in a teacher - enthusiastic, motivating, empathetic, patient and an excellent communicator. She has a very good grasp of the requirements of all the various examination boards and is as strong on improving exam technique as she is on the subject matter itself. Moreover, she made it so much fun that my daughter actually looked forward to her weekly sessions (A level biology). It is largely due to Kimberley that my daughter secured her grades and is now studying physiotherapy at University. Family circumstances were very strained over the actual exam period in which Kimberley tutored, with a sibling diagnosed with a very serious illness. The wisdom and compassion Kimberley showed during this time helped my daughter feel supported and "on track". She was always punctual and well prepared for lessons, clearly having planned quite a bit beforehand to ensure that the lesson time was used effectively. A truly lovely person!
