My tutoring approach

My approach is student-centred and depends very much on your needs and goals. I never assume any prior knowledge of a topic and like to find out through targeted questioning what your strengths are and what gaps need to be filled. I tend to use diagrams a lot to illustrate explanations! Exam preparation is a particular strength where I will focus on practice of exam questions, identifying with you what to focus on to maximise your potential score.

Please note: I only offer on-line tutoring as you are unlikely to live close enough for face-to-face tutoring!

Professional experience

Tutoring experience: 4+ years

After graduating from the University of Bath with a degree in Mechanical Engineering I initially worked in the automotive industry before training as a teacher. I have 10 years experience teaching mathematics at KS3, GCSE and A Level in UK schools where I had a proven track record for acheiving exam success with my students. Since leaving full-time teaching four years ago I have been working as an examiner with several exam boards at both GCSE and A Level (Core 2, 3 and 4). I have a great deal of experience of what examiners are looking for and how to prepare properly for an exam so that you can get the grades that reflect your hard work.

  • BEng Hons (2:1) in Mechanical Engineering from Bath University.
  • Qualified Teacher Status following completion of GTP at Warwick University.
