My tutoring approach
Taking on new students for 2018-19 academic year. Unfortunately Bigfoot Tutors had suspended all new bookings at the moment. Please email me at email@example.com or try Evotuition for online tuition https://www.evotuition.co.uk/profile/alastair1.
Sorry for the inconvenience, I look forward to being able to help when the website is fully operational in September/October.
Please note, lesson times and tuition is set at an "off peak" rate for the times made available for general booking. Lessons at other times may be possible after 16.00 on weekdays at £42/hour through this website.
I base my tutoring on the student's needs, developing their prior knowledge, building confidence in their learning and problem solving skills whilst developing exam technique.
I develop the student's learning experience at school or university and provide both additional resources and practice questions. My students are encouraged to develop their knowledge and an appreciation of what examiners require by developing their assessment for learning skills.
Tutees enjoy their tutorial style lessons which are normally 1 hour in duration. Longer times can be arranged if required.
Tutoring experience: 20+ years
I have taught Chemistry, Biology and Physics to GCSE in schools for the AQA and the Edexcel IGCSE specification.
At A Level I have taught the entire Chemistry course, my students have taken the AQA, Edexcel and OCR examinations and achieved the highest grades. I have helped student prepare for Oxbridge interviews through extension lessons beyond the A level specification, and coached students for technical interviews.
I have also taught introductory chemistry for non-specialist undergraduate students, as well as organic chemistry and analytical chemistry to students at undergraduate and postgraduate level. More recently I have coached verbal and non-verbal reasoning for 11+ entry examinations.
This calendar shows my availability.
